![]() This basic setup remained part of Ed’s primary touring rig until 2009. Starting in 1994, Ed began experimenting with a Vox AC30 for his clean, and later for mildly distorted, sounds. Ed would use a Boss LS-2 to switch between them, and this method was the source of all of his clean and distorted sounds on Pablo Honey. Starting circa 1992, Ed used to use a pair of Mesa-Boogie Trem-O-Verbs, with one set clean and one set for distortion. Also, it is really Ed who’s playing the foundational arpeggios of Weird Fishes when they perform it live, so it’s more important for Jonny to hear Ed than vice versa.Ī photo from the In Rainbows tour showing the in-ear monitors and guitar radios used by Thom and Ed (originally posted on DeadAirSpace).Īs for the amps, I believe that Ed is using his Fender Vibro-King and Vox AC30 combo in a way that is very different from his older rigs. On Weird Fishes, I’m sure that Ed gets Jonny’s guitar and perhaps the drums through his in-ears, and everything else through his wedges. They have better wedges than they used to, and Thom and Ed use a combination of wedges and in-ear monitors. Radiohead have a good enough monitoring setup these days that they don’t need to use amps for it (as Thom did from 1995-1998). ![]() Hello! Ed’s Vox AC30 is his own amp, not a monitor for Jonny.Įd with his Fender Vibro-King and Vox AC30 in NYC, 2016.07.27 (photo by Jonathan Bayer). This question was submitted by Anonymous Hey there sorry if you've already covered this, but do you know if the AC-30 next to Ed's Vibro King is being used by him this tour, or if its a second monitor for when Jonny goes to that side of the stage for weird fishes/let down? Thanks! ![]()
